Networking and Partnerships

Protest at Machneh Yehudah Shuk- Shatil Coordinated a Successful Campaign in Protest to the Government's Value Added Tax on Fruits and Vegetables
Shatil reaches out to players who help us further our vision of a just and equitable Israel. Our partners include the academic world, Knesset Members, government ministries, local councils, hospitals, PTAs, reporters, businesses, foundations, and of course, our colleagues at social change organizations. This way, we are not only more effective, but we also disseminate our message to those who might not view social change as a part of their mandate. By broadening the social change arena, we generate greater impact.
Coalitions and Forums
Shatil provides professional services to more than 40 coalitions and forums in Israel in a variety of areas including social and human rights, education, environmental justice, and religious pluralism.
Among the coalitions and forums we coordinate:
- 22 Religious and feminist organizations working against the exclusion of women from the public sphere
- The Umbrella Forum for Bedouin Education
- The Forum to Abolish the Arrangements Law
- The Coalition against Immigrant Under-employment
- Yachdav for the Prevention of Violence in the Ethiopian Family
- The Cellular Antenna Forum
- Forum to Evaluate the Reform of the Israel Electric Corporation
- Ramat Hovav Forum for Environmental Quality in the regions surrounding the Ramata Hovav industrial compound in the Negev
- The “Together” Coalitions of Ethiopian Activists in Hadera and Haifa
Partnering with Academia

Shatil hosts montly coffee house discussions featuring academics, writers and artists
Shatil works with leading academic institutions in Israel as well as several colleges in the geographic periphery to empower the voices of the disenfranchised, to spread best practices and to build a commitment to social justice and equality amongst Israel’s emerging leaders and leading thinkers. In collaboration with the Federmann School for Public Policy and Government at the Hebrew University, Shatil designed the Economic and Policy Advisors for Social Change Fellowship Program, which strives to expose promising economics students and professionals to the theories and practices of social change organizations. Increasingly, Shatil is also partnering with businesses and artists. Each year, for example, we co-coordinate an alternative book fair in Jerusalem with a fair trade coffee house, art exhibits, workshops and more.
Partnering with Government
Along with partners in academia and others Shatil has made the strategic decision to intensify our joint work with the national government and local authorities. In northern Israel, for example, we cooperate with the Haifa Municipality’s Social Services Authority in planning and implementing a project for training social and community workers. Providing the participants with better knowledge of public policy and its role in promoting social justice and combating poverty, the training improved the capacity of social and community workers to serve as agents of change in weakened communities. Other partnerships with the government include roundtable collaborations between business, NGO and government representatives in dealing with government policies toward the third sector and an interdisciplinary team of some 25 prime movers in the Negev including several heads of regional councils and municipalities, which seeks to become the central address for government, academic and nonprofit programs in the Negev.
