A workshop in Be'er Sheva about managing organizations in times of crisis; a session about Obama campaign lessons for political activists in Jerusalem, and a workshop about collaborations for a Haifa-Boston leadership group – these were just a few of the activities led by Dr. Russ Linden, a management educator who specializes in organizational change methods, in his sixth yearly visit as a volunteer with SHATIL. Dr. Linden, formerly a senior faculty member at the Federal Executive Institute and the Director of Executive Programs at the University of Virginia's Center for Public Service, also met with several SHATIL consultants to help them with their financial crisis work and held a number of direct consultations with organizations who are struggling with dilemmas in his fields of expertise (mainly collaborations and innovative management).
"We were lucky to have him with us just at the point in time when we needed his advice," said Liron Peleg, the coordinator of the SHATIL-led Boston-Haifa leadership group. "He came with expertise, real life stories, and an extraordinary ability to listen to our needs".
"The people in Be'er Sheva were thrilled to have the opportunity to learn from someone with so much knowledge" added Yarona Ben Shalom, co-director of SHATIL's southern office. Dr. Linden himself also said he was excited to meet with so many people doing such an important work. He is already looking forward to coming to work with SHATIL again next year, he said.
