עמק שווה" הוא ארגון של ארכיאולוגים בשיתוף תושבים ופעילים חברתיים הפועלים למען קידום הארכיאולוגיה לחיזוק החברה הישראלית כאמצעי לגשר ולקרב בין עמים ותרבויות ולהשפיע על הדינאמיקה של הסכסוך הישראלי-פלסטיני למען עתיד טוב יותר לתושבי המקום והאזור כולו. אנו רואים בארכיאולוגיה כלי המניע תהליכים: אמצעי לשינוי התודעה הציבורית, לחיזוק החברה ומוביל לשינוי חברתי אנו מאמינים שהממצא הארכיאולוגי אינו צריך ולא יכול להוות אמצעי להוכחת בעלות של עם או דת מסוימת על מקום.
חלק גדול מעבודתנו מתמקד בהרצאות וסיורים ארכיאולוגיים אלטרנטיביים. הסיורים מתקיימים באתר הארכיאולוגי "עיר דוד" ובכפר הפלסטיני סילוואן שבמזרח ירושלים. הסיור עוסק במקומה של הארכיאולוגיה בסכסוך הישראלי-פלסטיני, העושר הארכיאולוגי של האתר "עיר דוד" כאמצעי להכיר מגוון תרבויות והיחס בין הפיתוח והמחקר הארכיאולוגי למעמדם ומקומם של התושבים. מידע על הסיורים הקרובים באתר: http://www.alt-arch.org/tours_heb.php

Emek Shaveh is a nonprofit organization of archaeologists and community organizers working to change the role of archaeology in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It is founded on the belief that archaeology can be used to bridge cultural and national divides for the benefit of all peoples in the region.
A significant part of our work consists of conducting alternative archaeological tours aimed at increasing public awareness of the role of archaeology in the Israeli-Palestinan conflict. The tour "From Shiloah to Silwan" offers a unique visit to the archaeological site "City of David" located in the Palestinian village of Silwan in East Jerusalem. The multiple archaeological layers of the site reveal the story of Jerusalem from its beginning until today. The tour presents both the rich past of the place and the daily life of the village while discussing the role of archaeology in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
